Being Radical | David Keating

Being Radical
The founders of the most enduring world religions were radicals. Why? Because of the single universal statement underlying all of their teachings: Treat others as though they were ourselves.

Are we radical enough to boldly make the same statement?

7 Questions for Positive Business Choices

David Keating

Back when the Internet was just an interesting pile of protocols in university computer labs, I had the privilege of working with internationally known authors and publishers to develop spiritual workshops delivered by modem. After that project ended, I spent the next decade focusing on a business career in management and training.

Seeing how the world has changed, especially in how much interest there is in finding our spiritual roots as a species, I felt drawn to return the part of my life that has always held the most meaning.

This website and two others, a book, and a series of workshops form the basis of this renewed focus. I hope that they will provide a path for anyone interested to come together to explore the unity we have in the diversity of our experience and our beliefs.

More about David: The term faith journey is a cliché, but its apt. My journey to the Golden Rule Radical has been a life long one.

For the most part, I'm a typical North American baby boomer, born pretty much in the middle of the pack. I believe science has the ability to work out the mechanics of the universe and to devise ever more effective means of understanding our world. For the most part, I'm comfortable with the workings of  the society that I am part of.

I hold to a panentheistic (don't leave out the "en", its important) understanding of God. That is, that God is both immanent (intimately part of all of Creation) and transcendent (beyond the material). I don't believe that it is within our ability to define or limit God, even to the view I just expressed.

I don't believe that any one faith or tradition has an exclusive claim to the truth of God's Presence. I do believe that all life-affirming religions and secular moral codes can help us to understand something of God/Creation/the Universe, whether we choose to believe in God or not.

In the latter part of 2005 I happened across the Golden Rule Poster. Created by Paul McKenna, the poster was one project in an ongoing effort on Paul's part to develop resources for interfaith dialogue. Paul's work resonated with me, providing the catalyst to focus my own belief that there is a common element in all of our faiths, a mutuality that can inform and encourage our efforts to work together for a healthy and harmonious world.

The Golden Rule Radical is a natural progression in a journey that prompted me to create a computer-based spiritual discussion forum before the Internet existed. For almost twenty years I have watched the technology, and the people using it, evolve from asking "what is it?" to "How do we do more?"

It's my hope that this site will help those who visit to find the resources and community to foster and further their own spiritual journey.

I would love to hear from you. Please feel free to email me
