In a Peaceful and Helpful Way

February 5, 2007

If the human race wishes to have a prolonged and indefinite period of material prosperity, they have only got to behave in a peaceful and helpful way toward one another. - Winston Churchill

Churchill is probably not best remembered for being a man of peace. But he is remembered as being a man who was not willing to surrender his beliefs.

There are those who would try to convince us that the only way to peace is for all people to share one belief system, one form of government, one set of laws.

What a dull and dreary world that would be. Far better to celebrate the diversity of Creation that has been bestowed upon us. A diversity that can, if we allow it, lead us to act as Churchill suggests, in a peaceful and helpful way, fully secure in the knowledge that God can be manifest in myriad ways.
