Q&A |
The World of RelationMarch 7, 2007 Martin Buber described the "world of relation" as comparable to three spheres. The first - life with nature; the second - life with humanity; the third - life with spiritual beings. One of the occasional criticisms of the Golden Rule is that it's not comprehensive enough; that it deals with our actions on a superficial level only. I think that Buber's perspective can help us to see that relationship is multi-faceted and that we are continually moving through the three spheres that he describes. Each applies to us in differing circumstances and it is in learning to discern how to apply the Golden Rule in each circumstance that we develop our ability to move more deeply into Golden Rule guided relationships.

I welcome opportunities to speak to groups of all
kinds about the universality of the Golden Rule. |
