It's a project, an idea, an opportunity.
Most of us, at one time or another, have wished that we
could send a unified message to "the powers that be". A message telling
them that we expect them to treat our planet and everything on it,
including us, with care and respect.
The
Golden Rule Resolution is that message.
At its
most basic, the Golden Rule Resolution is a petition. It calls on
those in positions of authority to adopt the principle of the Golden Rule
as a guideline in all policy making processes. The Resolution is worded in
such a way that it is appropriate for all organizations, whether
governmental, corporate, social, or environmental. The principle of the
Golden Rule is universal, and the Resolution is universally applicable.
But the Golden Rule Resolution is more than a petition.
It's an opportunity for the millions of people who consider care and compassion
to be the core of their spirituality to come together,
in a dynamic and proactive way.
Whether you
choose to simply sign the petition, or to subscribe to the blog, join the
online discussion, spread the word to others, or organize a signing event,
you will be part of a growing movement to transform our world through
positive and uplifting action.
Lets make this a truly Golden world.

We're all aware that
it’s essential that we find a way to live together in peace, respecting
the right of one another to live and believe as we choose. Creating this
"pluralistic" society is a critical step in human growth.
We're also aware that,
in order to preserve the world and its resources, we must find a way to
create a sustainable, prosperous economy while protecting the environment
and the ecology of the world we live in.
The principle of
treating each other and the world with mutual respect is the foundation of
all moral codes, religious or secular. We often call it the Golden Rule or
the Ethic of Reciprocity. Applying this universal principle can provide an
enabling mechanism for the dialogue and development essential to resolving
the challenges we face globally, nationally, and locally.
Therefore, we call on
the religious, political, and economic leaders of the world to draft and
adopt a resolution based on the principle embodied in the Golden Rule;
this resolution to inform and guide the formation of political, social,
economic and environmental policies within their spheres of influence.
Who Will Receive the
Resolution?
The Golden Rule
Resolution will be delivered to appropriate political, social and
corporate bodies. The online petition and the print version include space
to indicate the organization that you, as a signatory, would like to see
the resolution sent to. These will be the primary recipients.
Those interested in
arranging signing events are also encouraged to specify the group they
intend to present the resolution to. This helps those you ask to sign to
understand who they are encouraging and why.
In addition to the
organizations specifically mentioned by those signing the resolution,
copies will be delivered to appropriate governing bodies based on the
location from which signatures are received. A high number of signatures
from the US for instance would

Online events:
You can
organize a signing event with just a computer (or two, or
three) and a location with Internet access. With the petition site
onscreen invite people to sit down for a moment and sign online. Heck, its
a better surfing destination than lots of others folks go to.
